OFY Volunteer Ocean Educators
Thank you for your interest in becoming an OFY volunteer Ocean Educator. Volunteer opportunities are available to anyone with a genuine affection for the underwater world -- marine enthusiasts, environmentalists and naturalists, athelets, students, community leaders, snorkelers, and scuba divers.

In addition to promoting education through travel, the foundation also provides volunteers with tools to educate groups and schools about our oceans. With your help, together we can educate and excite youth about the importance of ocean conservation. Today, the fragile marine environment faces many threats including ocean acidification, plastic pollution, and over-fishing. Our next generation will need to understand our oceans in order to protect them. We hope that your efforts in your community will help ignite a life-time of interest in and concern for the marine environment in children of all ages.

The Oceans for Youth Foundation offers volunteer Ocean Educators the use of a series of high-quality, standardized educational videos that can be screened for school, scouting or community groups. The videos are short approximately 5-minute allowing each individual Ocean Educator the flexibility to make an overall presentation of any length incorporating their own images or experiences; and/or the ability to return a number of times with new material. Each video is designed to educate viewers about specific aspects of the marine/ocean environment, and leave everyone with a sense or wonder.

More About These Materials.

The educational videos are suitable for presentations in groups ranging from age four to adult. We offer a presenter’s guide, found here: "Getting Started as an Oceans for Youth Volunteer Ocean Educator," which explains how to approach schools and venues as an educational presenter.

The video presentations allow you to show viewers the fascinating marine life in the world's oceans. Our suggestions for "How To Use The Videos" will help you create an opportunity for children and adults to discuss the ecology and conservation of our ocean’s ecosystemes. But most importantly, these videos will help you instill in your audience the desire to explore and protect the marine environment.

The Oceans for Youth Foundation believes that those who explore the underwater world come to appreciate it and, in turn, will then help protect it.
